Celebrating local talent, timely topics at year's end
By Kathleen Grant Geib, STAFF WRITER, ANG newspapers
Article Last Updated:11/30/2006 10:27:58 AM PST

WHERE DID the year go? This is the year's final Local Literati, the space in which we recognize new books by Bay Area authors. It's been a great year — lots of wonderful writing and interesting topics. We end the year on a similar note with creative authors offering something for everyone.

"Aging Artfully — 12 Profiles: Visual & Performing Women Artists Aged 85-105" (PAL Publishing, $20) by Berkeley's Amy Gorman. What could be more inspiring than artists whose craft sustains them as they age? Gorman talks with a variety of artists, including a rug braider, a doll maker, a pianist and a couple of storytellers. Just as interesting as the artists' work is the fact that they've met life head on. A CD titled "7 Songs of Women's Lives" by Frances Kandl of Berkeley is included.
